Purpose:

The council receives the ring-fenced dedicated schools grant (DSG) to fund the early years funding formulae. The contents of the formula are highly regulated by the Department for Education (DfE). The council is to decide the local formulae after considering the recommendations of the Schools Forum.

The recommendation demonstrates a balanced position of the funding available for distribution to the early years sector, support for disadvantaged children and those with additional needs and funding required for central council functions.
