In 2016 legacy Bournemouth Borough Council allocated £395,000 to establish Churchill Gardens Heritage Wall Grant scheme. The implantation of the scheme has stalled over time and as a result of number of factors the costs of implementing the scheme now far exceed the funding available. This Decision Record is to reallocate the grant funding to the Boscombe Towns Fund project along with the ASPIRE project for Churchill Gardens.
To reallocate an additional £85,000 of capital funding currently ring-fenced to the Churchill Gardens Heritage Wall Grant Scheme, to the Boscombe Towns Fund project, enabling a total contribution of £175,000.
The Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Finance and Transformation has considered any representations received and determined to confirm the decision outlined above without modification.
The costs associated with the Churchill Gardens Heritage Wall Grant Scheme have increased significantly since the project’s inception in 2016 and it is no longer financially viable to complete the scheme.
The reallocation of the funding towards the Boscombe Towns Fund project will enable the funding to enhance the largescale regeneration plans for Boscombe, the benefits of which will be received by a much larger proportion of the community.
