Complaint against councillors

If you feel that a councillor has not behaved in a correct way, you can make a complaint to the Council’s Monitoring Officer, and this will be dealt with under the adopted arrangements for dealing with allegations of breach of the Code of Conduct for Councillors.

The process for dealing with Code of Conduct complaints is outlined in the final section to this part of the Constitution.

Please note that the Monitoring Officer can only deal with complaints about things covered by the Councillor’s Code of Conduct.  Under the Code, the Monitoring Officer is not able to consider complaints about a council decision or about the actions of a member of staff.

Making a complaint

All complaints must be received in writing using the complaint form or the online web form. Once completed, the form should be returned to the Monitoring Officer.
