Horseshoe Common, particularly the lower section opposite Old Christchurch Road, has become a hotspot for visible drug use, dealing, and tent encampments. Local residents, business owners, and visitors are increasingly concerned for their safety and the deterioration of what should be a central community space.
Drug dealers posing as food couriers and individuals openly using substances have been frequently observed in the park. The presence of tents and ongoing antisocial behaviour have made the area feel unsafe, especially for families and nearby residents.
We are asking BCP Council and Dorset Police to work together
to:
1. Increase visible patrols and enforcement in the lower section of
Horseshoe Common.
2. Improve lighting and install or repair CCTV in key areas to
deter illegal activity.
3. Safely remove tents and encampments, ensuring outreach support
for vulnerable individuals while maintaining public safety.
4. Publish a clear action plan and provide regular updates to the
public on measures being taken.
We believe decisive, coordinated action is essential to restore Horseshoe Common as a safe, welcoming space for everyone in Bournemouth.
