We petition BCP Council to provide a dedicated, approved area where local mountain bikers can safely build, ride and maintain their own jumps and trails, with the agreement that these features will not be removed without consultation with the riders who use and maintain the area.
This would provide riders with a safe and legal place to enjoy the sport, while reducing the need for people to build unauthorised jumps in unsuitable locations.
Mountain biking is a popular activity among young people and adults across the BCP area. However, many riders currently have limited places where they can practise skills such as jumping, cornering and biking. This would also reduce the need for money to be spent for removal of these unauthorised jumps, recent examples of this have been copse close and Elgin.
We believe this could benefit the local community by giving young people and adults a positive outdoor activity, encouraging exercise and developing cycling skills in a safe and responsible environment.
