Whitecliff Rd/ Keyhole Bridge Further Review

To inform a review and decide the preferred option for this route:

Option A – leave Whitecliff Road open to all traffic through Keyhole Bridge.

Option B – re-close Whitecliff Road at Keyhole Bridge to motor vehicles for a further trial period of 6 months using a new ETRO.

Option C – permanently close Whitecliff Road at Keyhole Bridge to motor vehicles.

Consultation process

Via a physical experimental trial, public notice, site notice, Council Website and social media and a questionnaire and also by provision of a means for written correspondence by email and letter. In addition, the first decision report was subject to a 5 day engagement period and was also called in and considered at the Overview and Scrutiny Board on 1st March 2021. The first consultation ran from 7th Aug 2020 to 15th Jan 2021 and the second, extended consultation ran from 28th Feb 2022 to 8th April 2022.

Consultees

All users of the route. A wide scale public consultation was carried out and a decision was made in March 2021 to re-open the route. Following a challenge in the High Court, the Council was ordered to undertake a further widescale public consultation. These consultations are included and will be considered as part of the decision making process.
